Friday June 9th Lenti-

Up early at 5am. This is certainly the time of day that suits us to get moving. It normally ensures, depending on the trail, that will be at our destination by early afternoon and beat a lot of the heat. Not always.

It was a great start. We set a cracking pace( must have been the thermal baths) and that continued right up until the first hill!

This morning we walked through some beautiful villages high up on a ridge. The views were across tho Slovenia.
Up on the ridge is the tower- Stolp Vinarium, this tower is tall enough to be able to see across 4 countries . Slovenia, Hungary , Austria and Croatia . Thankfully it didn't open till later so we didn't feel obligated to walk the hundreds of stairs to see the view!!!
We walked along the border of Hungary and Slovenia for a couple of km's before slipping across. No one really knew until we came down from the heights and saw the number plates on cars.

Had coffee in the town of Lendava. Wonderful experience with a chap behind the bar, who spoke no English. We finally ascertained that his shop was not open but he made us coffee anyway. Even sharing a brandy with Glenn as we paid( 9.30 am)
Picked up some fruit and bread at the supermarket and felt anxiety at the size of this place. Feel we have been in the dark ages for just over a week

On,on across fields etc until making it to the border checkpoint between Slovenia and Croatia, picnic by the river just over the border in a  little village.

Back to the business of finding our accommodation for the night. More dirt tracks, overgrown paths and forests before arriving at Accredo adventure centre. Looked kinda nice and had lovely cold beer, but then the shemozal began . Told we are not staying here, we will be driven to another place only 10 mins away. That turned into a good 30mins + drive before arriving at another dry large  holiday camp.
We really don't want to be here but have no choice. The man will return at 7am to return to where it began for breakfast and to begin our walk. Very uncomfortable with all of this but there is no option.

Fabulous dinner at a local restuarant with all the peace walkers, so there is always a silver lining
